The Unicorn Pursuivant of Arms is Roderick Alexander Macpherson appointed on 1 September 2021. Previously he had been appointed Falkland Pursuivant of Arms Extraordinary in March 2018. Macpherson was born in 1963 and is a graduate of Oxford University. He was appointed a messenger-at-arms on 22 Jan 1987 and appointed Lyon Macer on I March 2012.

Macpherson is a Fellowof the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and sometime Secretary of the Oxford University Heraldry Society. He is a Trustee of the St. Andrews Fund for Scots Heraldry since 2015. Macpherson married in 1990 Dr. Christine Margaret Boyd and they have a daughter Christina Elizabeth Calderwood Macpherson born in 1995.

The most recent previous holder of the office of Unicorn Pursuivant was Liam Devlin 2016-2021.
