Sir Crispin Hamlyn Agnew of Lochnaw, 11th Baronet, Chief of the Name and Arms of Agnew, was born in 1944, Major (Ret.) Royal Highland Fusiliers., Advocate 1982, Queen’s Counsel 1995 , Slains Pursuivant to the Earl of Errol 1978-81, He was appointed as an Officer of Arms at the Court of the Lord Lyon as Unicorn Pursuivant of Arms in 1981 and as Rothesay Herald of Arms in 1986 serving until 2021. He is a member of The Queen’s Bodyguard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers since 1976. He was appointed Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) in the 2021 Birthday Honours.
Sir Crispin Hamlyn Agnew of Lochnaw, Bt., LVO, QC was appointed Albany Herald Extraordinary on 1 September 2021.
The most recent previous holder of the office of Albany Herald was John Alexander Spens, MVO, RD, WS, 1985-2011. Previous to him was the famous Scottish Herald, Sir Iain Moncreiffe of that Ilk, Bt., CVO, 1961-1985.
Sir Crispin married in 1980 Susan Rachel Strang Steel, they have four children a son and three daughters. His son, Mark Douglas Noel Agnew of Lochnaw, younger, born in 1991 is the heir to the chiefship and baronetcy.
