Michael Bruce John Murray, was born in Louis Trichardt, South Africa to the Duke of Atholl and his wife Lynne Elizabeth Andrew ( married 1984 ) as the elder son and heir in 1985. As the heir, Michael Murray holds the courtesy title of Marquess of Tullibardine.
He has a younger brother Lord David Murray born in 1986 and sister Lady Nicole Murray born in 1987.
