Dr. Melvin Sinclair, Jr., DBA, FSA Scot was born in 1948 in Newberry, South Carolina, the only son to Melvin Sinclair and his wife Marian Ester Whisonant. He received his doctorate of Business Administration from Walden University, Minneapolis, MN.

In July 1970 he married Charlotte Lynne Gregory and they have issue: a son Melvin Michael Sinclair born in 1971 who is the heir apparent, a second son Thomas Gregory Sinclair born in 1976 and a daughter, Kimberly Lynne Sinclair born in 1977. Dr. Sinclair and family reside in Greenville, SC.

Dr. Sinclair has had a career in human resource management. Currently teaches full-time at Charleston Southern University with emphasis on graduate courses.

He is a past Personal Representative for Malcolm Ian Sinclair, the 20th Earl of Caithness, Chief of Clan Sinclair who is one of the 90 elected hereditary peers in the House of Lords.

The artwork is an interpretation of Maggie Spalding who also did the calligraphy for the Letters Patent.
