Arms: Argent, three mullets Azure, a bordure checky of the Second and the First.

Sir Malcolm Rognvald Innes of Edingight, KCVO 1990, CVO 1981. was Falkland Pursuivant Extraordinary 1957 ( age 19), Carrick Pursuivant 1958, Lyon Clerk in 1966 and as Marchmont Herald of Arms in 1971 upon the death of his father. In the same year he became an member of the Royal Company of Archers. He was appointed Lord Lyon King of Arms and Secretary of the Order of the Thistle in 1981 and served in these offices for twenty years to 2001. He was then appointed Orkney Herald Extraordinary.

He was preceded as Lord Lyon by Sir James Monteith Grant, KCVO 1969-1981 and was succeeded as Lord Lyon by Robin Orr Blair, CVO, 2001-2007.

Sir Malcolm was born on 25 May 1938 as was the third son of Sir Thomas Innes of Learney, GCVO a former Lord Lyon and prolific author. Sir Malcolm married in 1963 Joan, the daughter of Thomas D. Hay and they had three sons, John, Colin and Michael.

Sir Malcolm Innes of Edingight, KCVO, passed away on Sunday 20th of September 2020 at St Columba’s Hospice in Edinburgh at the age of 82.

He will be missed by the whole of the heraldic community !
