Bishop Odore Joseph Gendron the 7th Bishop of Manchester, NH was born on 21 Sep 1921 in Manchester, NH. He was ordained a priest on 31 May 1947 by Bishop Matthew Francis Brady, Bishop of Manchester. Fr. Gendron was appointed Bishop of Manchester, NH on 12 Dec 1974 to replace Bishop Primeau who had resigned on 30 Jan 1974. Bishop Gendron’s Principal Consecrator was Bishop Emeritus Primeau on 3 Feb 1975, his former bishop. Some 15 years later Bishop Gendron himself resigned on 12 Jun 1990. Bishop Emeritus Gendron lived on to be the oldest Roman Catholic bishop in the United States dying at age 99 on 16 Oct 2020 in Manchester, NH.
