02. Duchess of Sussex Marital achievement

Marital achievement of the Duchess of Sussex showing the coronet, supporters and compartment.

Sources, Notes and Credits: Boutell’s Heraldry, pp 178-179 with colour illustration for coronets. Internet sources for supporter & compartment information.

The coronet depicted is that for the Sovereign’s grandchildren: issue of sons in the direct line and their spouses.

The Supporter relating to The Duchess of Sussex is a songbird with wings elevated as if flying and an open beak, which with the quills in the shield of arms, represents the power of communication.

The conpartment is strewn with personal touches like the golden poppies from her home state, California, and wintersweet, which grows at her new residence, Kensington Palace.

The achievement was scanned from the internet.
