J. Kevin Logan, BSc (Eng), FSA Scot, Commander of the Name Logan, was born and educated in rural Missouri. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri in 1993.
He spent his career as a controls and systems expert for Ford, General Motors, and Toyota, helping pioneer the electrification of the modern consumer vehicle. His work includes nine patents for regenerative braking algorithms.
In April 2025, more than sixty-five members of Clan Logan gathered in Edinburgh under the supervision of Colin C. Russell CStJ, Bute Pursuivant. Their near-unanimous vote chose Kevin as Commander of the Name Logan. On 18 December 2025 the Lord Lyon formally granted that commission.”
