Arms: Per chevron Argent and Azure, two anvils Azure in chief over a fire breathing dragon head erased in base.

When Sheriff David Wilson Bogie died in 1999, the widow requested his friend Mark D. Dennis to make a bookplate for David’s arms. This the artist did for the widow to paste in the books Sheriff Bogie had collected both on the law and heraldry which would then be put up for sale. His heraldic library was first class as we now have four of them with the “Mark Dennis” Bogie bookplates pasted within.

The heraldic bookplate is curious, about 4’ x 6” with a message along the right hand vertical edge. M D DENNIS PRO AMICO DEFVNCTON IN ANNO MMII PINXIT This translated, according to Mark Dennis, as “MMD painted this in 2002 for his late friend”. dqw 2018 0414
