Arms: Azure fimbriated Argent on a plain shield.

Dr. Claire Boudreau, Chief Herald of Canada, since 2007 has retired. This was announced yesterday 20 May 2020. The Governor General of Canada has appointed her Margaree-Chéticamp Herald Emeritus.

The Governor General then appointed Dr. Samy Khalid as the new Chief Herald of Canada. He joined the Canadian Heraldic Authority in 2014, as Saguenay herald, and has been assistant director in an acting capacity since 2019.

Dr. Khalid holds a doctorate in history, specializing in identity studies. Among other positions, he was previously the manager of the Genealogical and Archival Research Unit at Indigenous Services Canada, and the editor-in-chief of Le Chaînon, a magazine dedicated to history and heritage.

We do not yet have arms for Dr. Khalid.
