Gordon Casely, KStJ, Kincardineshire, Scotland, born 1943, educated at Hutchesons’ Grammar School, Glasgow, and Aberdeen University. He is a freelance journalist, piper and heraldist. whose enjoyment of life covers senior media posts in Scotland and London.

He is a lifetime cyclist, cycling in every continent except Antarctica, and clocking 182,000 miles so far. He gained his first bike aged five, and very soon hopes to be able to dispense with the stabilizers.

He loves promoting heraldry, and helping to gain arms for companies, councils and people. Sometimes, he thinks he ought to go and get a real job. The trouble is – if he did, he would not get to meet such nice people.

As part of his professional work, Gordon supplies obituaries to the two principal newspapers in Scotland and to two in London.

He married Janet McPherson, daughter of Rev John Sheppey, in 2016, and has a son Bruce Gordon Fraser Casely, and four grandchildren.
