Markus Hermann Frank baron of Barnton, was born in 1965 in Kirchheim unter Teck, Baden-Wuttemberg, Germany, the only son of Hermann Josef Frank and Walburga Theresia Wanner. His education consists of a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and he became a Doctor of Medicine at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität, Heidelberg.

Dr. Frank married in New York, USA on 5 dec 1995 Dr. Natasha Yuri Melnik. They have issue: an eldest son and heir apparent Maximilian Yuri Markus Frank born in 1996 in New York, a second son Alexander Hermann Markus Frank born in 1997 in Boston, MA and a third son Andreas Fyodor Markus Frank born in 1999 in Boston, MA. The family resides in Cambridge MA.

Dr. Frank is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
