1st: Or; a lion rampant Gules,
2nd: Argent; a dexter hand couped in pale Gules,
3rd: Argent; a sword in pale Proper,
4th: Or; a lymphad Azure, sails furled Proper,
oars in saltire Gules and flagged of the last.

Helm: befitting his degree with mantling Gules doubled Argent
On the helm a wreath of the liveries Or and Azure is set for crest
Crest a grey demi-catamountain salient, on his sinister foreleg
a Highland Targe Gules
On an Escrol: over the crest this motto:
Motto: TOUCH NOT A CATT BOT A TARGE
Beneath the shield a compartment with
Supporters: two boxwood plants Proper
Along with the Slogan: KINCHYLE as the war cry

Richard James McBain of McBain, 23rd Chief of the Clan MacBean. He succeeded his father James Hughston McBain of McBain who died on 7 Mar 2022 and who had been recognized as the 22nd chief of Clan MacBean by then Lord Lyon Sir Thomas Innes of Learney. Richard McBain was born in 1956.
