Baron Hervé Pinoteau, was born in Paris on 19 July 1927, he was chief of the name and arms of the family Pinoteau, which carried with it the title of baron.

Note: Prince Henry the Navigator was a grandson of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster by his mother Philippa Plantagenet of Lancaster, eldest child (1360-1415) of John (Plantagenet) of Gaunt (1340-1399) and Blanche of Lancaster (1342-1368).) Philippa married in February 1387 JoĂŁo I, King of Portugal (1357-1433. They has eight children one of whom was Henry the Navigator.
A distinguished French heraldist Pinoteau was a Member of the AcadĂ©mie Internationale d’HĂ©raldique and a prolific author on heraldic, chivalric and nobiliary matters. He was well known as a French historian and royalist apologist. As a young man he served as a Lieutenant of infantry in the French army in 1950-1951.
The title of baron is from Napoleon I. It was awarded to his ancestor le general de brigade Pierre-Armand Pinoteau on 28 Apr 1814 but without letters patent. However, the title was confirmed with letters Patent under the Second Empire of Napoleon III on 2 Jan 1869.
Baron Pinoteau died on 24 Nov 2020, age 93, RIP.
