David John Wilson Reid of Robertland was born in 1929 and matriculated arms at Lyon Court 30 May 1962. According to the Late Sir James Monteith Grant, KCVO, then Lord Lyon, in his forward to “Ordinary II”, Reid approached him about a second ordinary in March of 1972. Lyon Grant gave his consent and seconded Miss Vivien Wilson of the Lyon Court Staff to assist him. They got started, and on 24 September 1972 Reid was appointed Carrick Pursuivant by Lyon Grant. Work on the new ordinary continued, then on 20 December 1973 David Reid died suddenly of a heart attack at, we believe, age 44, very young indeed. Miss Wilson persevered and carried on to fruition. ( see her entry ).

Note: New copies of “Ordinary II”, 1902-1973, a limited edition of only 800, we believe copies are still available, as of this writing on 27 May 2009, in original dust jackets and shipping cases for only ÂŁ20.00 plus postage from Lyon Office.

The artwork is a rendering by John Hamilton Gaylor
