Robertson, Smith W.

Blazon of Arms:

Shield: Gules in chief two wolves’ heads erased Argent langued Azure and in base a burning cup Or enflamed proper.

SOURCE/NOTES & CREDITS: Source for blazon, the undifferenced arms of Robertson of Struan which were differenced for us by J. H. Gaylor deleting the wolf’s head in base and substituting in its place a burning cup Or enflamed proper. The text is adapted from internet sources, the Darrow School Yearbook for 1959 and personal memories of Smith Robertson. So these are arms attributed by us retrospectively to our deceased friend and former Darrow classmate.

Smith Whitworth Robertson was born on 31 Dec 1940 to Herbert Fremont Robertson and Carolyn Fuller Whitworth of Norfolk, CT. He was named Smith in honor of his grandfather who had the same first name. He attended Darrow School ( then a prep school for boys ) starting in 1955 and graduating in 1959. Later Smith joined the US Army and served in Vietnam as a First Lieutenant.

Some years later back in the US he suffered a motorcycle accident which left him paralyzed. He lived with this disability for a number of years but sadly died on 17 Nov 1998 at age 57. Pray for his soul.

The artwork is an interpretation of John Hamilton Gaylor
