St. Katherine of Alexandria and Sinai was one of the most important saints in the religious atmosphere and culture of the late Middle Ages and she was considered the most important of the virgin martyrs. Her power as an intercessor was renowned, her shrine then and now is St. Catherine’s Monastery on Mt. Sinai in Egypt

St. Katherine was born circa. 287 AD in Alexandria Egypt was tortured & martyred in the early 4th century at the hands of the emperor Maxentius. One of the instruments of torture was the catharine wheel. She died in Egypt by beheading circa. 305 AD, age about 18. Venerated today by Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran and Orthodox Christians with her Feast day being 25 Nov.
