Peder Wessel Tordenskjold (1691-1720) is considered Norway’s greatest sea hero in the post Viking age. He went from Sea-Cadet to Vice Admiral in eight years in the the Danish-Norwegian navy in the Great Northern War of 1700-1721. He was killed in a duel at the young age of 29 !
