Arms:
Parted per pale, dexter
Quarterly, 1st Gules, a saltire Argent, on a chief per pale Azure and Vert, a pale Or charged with a lion rampant within a double tressure flory counterflory Gules, between a stag’s head erased with a cross between the attires, and a unicorn’s head erased Argent, armed and crined Or ( for the Dean of the Chapel Royal of Scotland ),
2nd; Per pale Sable and Gules, an open crown of three fleurs-de-lys in chief and a cross crosslet in base both Or (for the Abbacy of Crosregal),
3rd; Sable, a dexter hand Proper attired in a manche Argent issuant from the dexter fess point, grasping a quigerich Or, accompanied by 3 stars of 6 points of the Last two in chief and one in sinister base (for the Abbacy of Dundrennan),
4th; Azure, a saltire Argent, on a chief Vert a pale Or charged with a book Gules charged with two pens in saltire Or, the said pale between two thistles of the Last ( for the Dean of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle ),
And sinister;
Per pale Ermine and Or, two oars in saltire Azure, on a chief Gules a cross potent cantoned of four plain crosslets Or, between two closed books of the Last, within a bordure chequy Or and Gules ( for Torrance).
Behind the Shield from which is pendent the Badge of the Dean of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle is placed in pale a quigerich Or, stoned Gules.
Above the Shield is placed an ecclesiastical hat Sable having on either side strings of three tassels each Gules as Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland.
On a compartment below the Shield are set for Supporters dexter a long-haired miniature black and tan dachshund and sinister a long-haired miniature chocolate dachshund both guardant proper.
The Very Reverend Professor Iain Richard Torrance whose personal arms are impaled with the arms of the Dean of the Chapel Royal of Scotland and the arms of the Dean of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The two long-haired miniature dachshunds who appear as supporters were Maud (the black and tan) and Cassiopea (the chocolate).
