Wimsey, Peter Death Bredon, DSO, born 1890, 2nd son of Mortimer Gerald Bredon Wimsey, 15th Duke of Denver and Honoria Lucasta, daughter of Francis Delagardie of Bellingham Manor, Hants. Educated at Eton College and Balliol College, Oxford (1st Class honours, School of Modern History 1912); served with H. M. Forces 1914-18
(Major, Rifle Brigade). Author of: “Notes on the Collecting of Incunabula,” “The Murderer’s Vade-Mecum,” etc. Recreations: criminology; bibliophily; incanabulae; music; cricket. Clubs: Marlborough; Egotists’. Residences: 110A Piccadilly, W.; Bredon Hall, Duke’s Denver, Norfolk. At over the age of 130 he would appear to hold the current world record as the oldest living person.
Note: Lord Peter D. B. Wimsey, DSO, is a fictional character, as were his Arms, created by the late Dorothy L. Sayers and added to by the late C. W. Scott-Giles, OBE, Fitzalan Pursuivant of Arms Extraordinary. Wimsey is the protagonist in many famous detective mystery stories. His brother, Gerald, the 16th duke, died without living issue, as his only son, Viscount St. George (a/k/a ‘Pickled Gherkin’), was killed whilst flying with the RAF during the war. Lord Peter thus succeeded as the 17th Duke of Denver upon his brother’s death in the fire that severely damaged parts of Duke’s Denver.
