07b. List of the Gentlemen Ushers of the Green Rod of the Order of the Thistle

List of the Gentlemen Ushers of the Green Rod to the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Though the Order was formally instituted in 1687, the first Usher of the Green Rod was only appointed in 1714 by King George I.

Think it of interest that the 1st Green Rod, Sir Thomas Brand, Kt., served longer than any succeeding Green Rod to date.
