Arms: Argent on a Saltire Azure between in chief an open cotton boll proper, in base a cross crosslet and in the flanks two stags heads erased gules, a bezant between four Mullets Or.

Crest: a tower Argent, windows and port Azure, standing on a mound vert charged with three springs of bog cotton Proper

The armiger born in 1943 grew up in Dillon, SC and received an AB degree in Economics from Davidson College in 1965 along with a Reserve Commission in the US Army. He served with the 4th Infantry Division in Viet Nam, receiving the Bronze Star during his tour there. In civilian life he was a banker and a corporate administrator, retiring from these activities in 2010. He is an historian by avocation with interests in US, British and European history. He is a member of the NC Society of the Cincinnati, the Heraldry Society of Scotland and is a Commander of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. In 1967 he married Righton McCaskill Hodgkin by whom he has two sons, James (his heir) and Garnett (who has matriculated his own arms).

Brown McCallum, Jr. was elected to the SSA Board of Governors on 11 Sep 2010 for a term of three years.
