Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson of the Nile, 1st Duke of Bronté, KB 29 Sep 1758- 21 Oct 2005 was a British flag officer in the Royal Navy. His inspirational leadership, grasp of strategy, and unconventional tactics brought about a number of decisive British naval victories, during the Napoleonic wars.

The arms image of Viscount Bridport and Duke of Bronte is of interest because of the marriage of Samuel Hood, 2nd Baron Hood and Lady Charlotte Mary Nelson, 3rd Duchess of Bronte, heiress of William Nelson, 1st Earl Nelson. This marriage united two of Britain’s distinguished naval families and is so reflected in Lord Bridport’s arms.

Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, 1st Baronet, GCB born on 5 Apr 1769 was a Royal Navy officer. He took part in the Battle of Cape St. Vincent in February 1797, the Battle of the Nile in August 1798 and the Battle of Copenhagen in April 1801 during the French Revolutionary Wars.

Vice-Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, 1st Baron Collingwood ( 26 Sep 1748 – 7 Mar 1810 Was notable as a partner with Lord Nelson in several of the British victories of the Napoleonic Wars and frequently as Nelson’s successor in command.

Admiral Sir Eliab Harvey GCB (5 December 1758 – 20 February 1830) born in Chigwell, Essex to William and Emma Harvey was an eccentric and hot-tempered officer of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars who was as distinguished for his gambling and dueling as for his military record.

Admiral Sir Robert Moorsom, KCB ( 8 June 1760 – 14 April 1835 ) born in Whitby, Yorkshire was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Captain John Pilfold , CB ( 1768 – 12 July 1834 )
Born on Effingham, East Court Manor, Sussex in 1768, was an officer of the Royal Navy. In October 1805 Lieutenant Pilfold was Acting Captain of the HMS Ajax, as her Captain had been called home to give evidence at a court martial.

Rear Admiral William Carnegie, 7th Earl of Northesk, GCB (1756 -1831) was a distinguished Royal Navy Officer who served during the American Revolutionary War thru the Napoleonic Wars.
